Glasgow
Glasgow was, in 1999, the City of Architecture and Design; Victorian style, Neo Gothic, Art Nouveau and titanium, glass and steel all mingle to form what is now considered as one of the most exciting destinations in the United Kingdom. In Glasgow over twenty Museums and Galleries can be visited, the shopping experience is excellent and varied and Glaswegians have long been renowned for their friendliness and hospitality. Loch Lomond
Beautiful Loch Lomond is roughly half an hour's drive North of Glasgow, the largest loch in Scotland in terms of surface and part of the itinerary of those who travel from the city to the West Coast. On the western shore and with pretty stone cottages overlooking the Loch, the village of Luss is definitely worth a visit.
Fort William
Town at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest summit in Britain, in the heart of the Highlands. Its environs are famed for their scenic beauty. Glenfinnan on Loch Eil, the Road to the Isles to Mallaig with its wonderful beaches, and Glen Coe with the "Three Sisters", are all unmissable. Interesting for: nature lovers.
Eilean Donan Castle
Traditional Scottish Castle, ancient seat of the MacRae Clan, set in stunning surroundings overlooking Loch Duich, towards the Isle of Skye and Wester Ross. Interesting for: those who want to know more about Scottish traditions and way of life.
Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye is renowned the world over for the beauty of its landscapes. The Castle of Dunvegan, on the Loch bearing the same name, the picturesque Portree, the interior of the island with the Cuillins range are among its main attractions. Interesting for: all those who love majestic landscapes and walks in the great outdoors.
Wester Ross & Gairloch
The remote region of Wester Ross is characterized by some of the wildest and most spectacular landscapes in Scotland, with innumerable, deep blue Lochs and heather clad mountains and hills which change colour every season.
The wonderful Inverewe Gardens, on Loch Ewe, are home to a great variety of exotic flora , which can grow here thanks to the warming current of the Gulf Stream.
The road between Shieldaig and Kinlochewe, with Loch Torridon, the summit of Beinn Eighe, Loch Maree, the village of Poolewe between two lochs and Gairloch are simply unforgettable places. Interesting for: Wester Ross is for those who love nature, the wild great outdoors and outdoor pursuits.
Loch Ness
The Loch with the largest volume of water in Scotland – in places it is up to 250 mt deep. Its mysterious atmosphere contributed to create the legend of the monster. A good view of the Loch can be admired from the ruins of Urquhart Castle, on the western shore. Interesting for: everyone.
Speyside & Grantown on Spey
An area renowned for for its Whisky Trail, the only itinerary in the world entirely and solely dedicated to Single Malt Whiskys. The Trail includes eight distilleries and also a "cooperage", for the care of the oak casks in which the "Water of life" is matured. Some of the Distilleries to be visited are Benromach, Cardhu, Dallas Dhu, Glenfiddich, Glen Grant, Glenlivet, Glen Moray, Strathisla (Chivas Regal) and the Speyside Cooperage. The Distilleries offer visitor Tours and tastings. Also to see in the area the wonderful Castles of Ballindalloch and Cawdor. Interesting for: lovers of Single Malt Whisky and Scottish traditions
Aberdeen & Royal Deeside
Welcome to the North East of Scotland, a magical destination. Aberdeen, the main city, the third largest in Scotland and one of the wealthiest, whose economy is based on the North Sea oil industry. The economy’s dependence on oil has meant that this region is not so well known for its other attractions, which are nonetheless outstanding – this region has the highest concentration in Britain of five star graded tourist attractions… Balmoral, Royal Deeside (the valley of the salmon rich river Dee), the Castle Trail, wonderful beaches, this region is so outstanding that we have dedicated to it an entire page, click on ANCIENT CASTLES OF SCOTLAND to view it!
Pitlochry
Fascinating and atmospheric Victorian town, surrounded by Lochs and on the salmon-rich Tay river. Amongst its main attractions are the "Salmon ladder", where the fish can be seen ascending the river, and the majestic Blair Castle. Nearby, Dunkeld with the beautiful and mysterious Cathedral, similar to the Rosslyn Chapel, Birnam, birthplace of Beatrix Potter, the children's writer, and the vantage point " Queens' View", which offers one of the most beautiful views in Scotland. Glamis CastleA fairytale castle, childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Stunning interiors with collections of ceramics, antique furniture and paintings. Interesting for: lovers of traditional Scottish interiors.
Scone Palace
The wonderful Scone Palace, ancient crowning site of Scottish Monarchs, is not to be missed. One of the most sumptuous stately houses in Scotland, it is situated in a splendid park and houses priceless collections of porcelain, antiques and objets d'art. St AndrewsNot to be missed. A fascinating coastal town, the home of Golf, played here since 1457, the oldest University in Scotland and an ancient ecclesiastical capital. Its main attractions are St.Andrews Cathedral, the Castle, and the Old Golf Course, six centuries old and known the world over. Interesting for: an absolute must for golf enthusiasts.
StirlingWonderful, historic town dominated by the famous Castle. Its main sights are the historic Castle and the Church of the Holy Rude, from which stunning views can be enjoyed, and the monument to "Braveaheart" William Wallace. Interesting for: those who want to know more about the country's history.
Edinburgh
One of the most beautiful and elegant cities in the world, dominated by the renowned Castle and composed by the ancient Old Town and the neoclassical New Town. Some of its many attractions are the Castle, the Centre, the Royal Yacht Britannia moored in the picturesque Leith Harbour. The Rosslyn Chapel, made famous by the novel "the Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown is situated a few kilometres south of the city. Interesting for: the city has much to offer to everyone.
